Kajiura　Norio
Born in Okayama in 1951. Attended Senoo Elementary School, Okayama University-affiliated Junior High School, and Okayama Asahi High School. In 1970, he entered the Department of Design in the Faculty of Crafts at Tokyo University of the Arts. In 1975, he enrolled in the Graduate School’s Laboratory of Oil Painting Techniques and Materials at the same university. After completing graduate studies, he continued for one year as a research student.
From 1981 to 1982, he studied in the Department of Sculpture at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. During that time, he researched the art scenes in Austria and Germany, particularly Vienna. He was deeply impressed by how art from various eras and styles was naturally integrated with society and everyday life, which inspired him to begin creating and exhibiting work there. After a temporary return to Japan, he moved back to Austria in 1986, residing in Vienna to focus on production and exhibitions. In late 2017, he returned to Japan to resume his artistic practice, now based in Okayama.

Exhibitions (Overview)
Held his first solo exhibition (Spatial Composition) in 1979 at Shintamura Gallery in Kanda. From 1980 to 1984, he held multiple solo and group exhibitions at Maki Gallery (Kanda), Kanagawa Prefectural Cultural Center (Yokohama), and Shinjuku Cultural Center.
In 1987, he held his first solo exhibition in Vienna at Galerie Spectrum. This was followed by exhibitions at Galerie Merz, Neue Galerie Wien, Minoriten Art Center, Zeitkunst Innsbruck, and various other cities across Austria.
From 1990 onward, he exhibited primarily through Galerie Tiller (Vienna), participating in solo and group exhibitions across Europe, including Galerie Matt (Eschen), Top Air (Stuttgart), Kleine Galerie (Waiblingen), Galerie Meissner (Hamburg), the National Museum of Sofia, Kalkar City Museum, and the City Cultural Hall in Hamm.
In 1991, he resumed exhibiting in Japan, at venues including Nihon Gallery (Tokyo), Galerie Sonorité (Osaka), Tenmaya Art Gallery (Okayama), Gallery K (Kurashiki), Gallery Shiori (Kurashiki), Anrakuji Temple (Kyoto), Hanairo (Kyoto), Inryoji Temple (Okayama), Kaoru (Okayama), Atelier Live (Okayama), Lemongrass (Kurashiki), Plaza Gallery (Chofu), Artland Gallery (Marugame), Uncle Iwane Gallery (Okayama), Gallery Kurashiki, Chic Café (Okayama), Art Space Hane (Kumamoto), Daily Bubble (Okayama), Sogenji Temple (Okayama), Roon_412 (Tokyo), Gallery Merino (Kurashiki), Gallery 108 (Okayama), Gallery EM (Nagasaki), and Jizai Kukan Art Step (Kobe).
Since 2003, he has been working mainly with Artmark Galerie (Spittal am Pyhrn, Vienna), and has also exhibited at Castle Puchheim (Puchheim), Lattermann Gallery (Darmstadt), Galerie Lang (Vienna), For You and Your Customers (Vienna, Zurich), Esther Montreal (Barcelona), and An der Schmiede (Pasing).

He has participated in numerous art fairs, including those in Basel, Vienna, Linz, Ghent, Montreal, Cologne, and others.

His works are part of many public collections, including those of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, the Vienna Municipal Department of Culture, the Lower Austria State Government, the Lentos Museum of Modern Art in Linz, and the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the City of Medulin.
