Kataoka Yoshimori　 – Artist Statement

My work theme is question and awareness that we meet in daily life.
Having questions starts from questioning the ordinary.
If you don't just accept everything as it is, but step back and look at it, you can see things from many different angles.
In the same way, we should also make an effort to look at ourselves from a distance. If we all have a broad perspective like the universe, and live each day within your reach with care, then we can be more humbly consider each other and might be able to foster a world that is comfortable for all living things.
I keep working with this wish in my mind.

My work starts from creating a conceptual poem, from which the image for the painting would be built up. The painting material is mixed media, with a use of collage.
I hope looking at my works would be a moment to face yourself for a while.

Yoshimori Kataoka

Yoshimori Kataoka is a contemporary artist who exhibits her works at solo show in Tokyo, and special exhibitions, art fairs both in Japan and abroad. Her painting medium is mixed media. She uses acrylics, oil pastels, and collage to express her unique world view.
