Mabuchi Akiko About the Artwork

This piece is created by fixing verdigris onto a copper plate. Verdigris forms during the oxidation process of copper. The appearance of verdigris changes depending on various daily conditions such as temperature and humidity, until it becomes fixed. Therefore, chemical techniques are essential for controlling its color tones. What's interesting is the changing expression of verdigris, and by halting this progression and applying specialized treatments over it, I make it possible to add oil painting-like brushstrokes. I hope you can feel the universe even within this small piece.
