I have consistently produced paintings in oil on canvas.
One of my recent themes is "the sublime and humor" with reference to religious paintings.
With the basic compositional elements of painting such as composition, color, form, brushstroke, and matiere in mind, I am always conscious of painting with a real sense of the image, not to mention examining them carefully.

In the works to be exhibited in this exhibition, I have used quotations from famous paintings and Western motifs that have been painted for a long time, aiming to create a sense of discomfort caused by the recombination of "images that are typical of painting".

Ishii Yuuk

Born in Kagawa Prefecture in 1995. Graduated from the Oil Painting Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Tama Art University in 2019 and completed a master's degree in Oil Painting at the Graduate School of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts, in 2022. Major exhibitions to date include 3cm and 3km - Looking Across (2023, TEZUKAYAMA GALLERY, Osaka), Two-Person Exhibition: Yuka Shiohara, Yuko Ishii (2022, Satoko Oe Contemporary, Tokyo), Yuko Ishii & Taro Maruyama ENCOUNTER (2022, Mitsukoshi Contemporary Gallery, Tokyo), Long Text Wind Speed Meter (2022, Akihaba Tamabi 21, Tokyo), among others.
