My Method and Content of Expression Demise Hisao
Since 1985, I have been making collages by cutting and pasting black-and-white photographs, and then using the negatives as the original, placing a glass ball in front of the lens and photographing the blurred images reflected in the glass ball. All of the photographs used in the process are self-printed, and the final coloring process is done by hand, as if it were a cottage industry.
Nowadays, digitalization has progressed, and any kind of expression can be done on a computer, but I cannot keep up with the slick, shiny, and smooth digital images. My mind is more attuned to the smoothness and roughness of analog silver particles. My brain is stimulated and inspired by the repetitive manual work of photographing and darkroom work.
Since the beginning of the 21st century, I have been experimenting with boxed miniatures (size 0 to 3) since last year, aiming to create Pop Art with a touch of surrealism.
In the photographs, I use pebbles, beads, glass beads, and other insignificant objects as well as toy dolls in a candy box as assemblages. We hope that many of you will visit the exhibition.
