FUDEZUKA Toshihisa / WATANABE Kanako Two-Person Exhibition
~“Dear Fudezuka, This Morning I Found a Bird’s Feather.”
“Dear Watanabe, Yesterday I Stepped on the Shadow of a Cloud.”~
Artland Gallery is pleased to present a two-person exhibition by Fudezuka Toshihisa and Watanabe Kanako from March 7 (Sat.) to March 29 (Sun.), 2026.
Approximately twelve years ago, the two artists happened to hold separate solo exhibitions on different floors of the same gallery. That coincidence marked the beginning of their connection. Since then, they have encountered each other’s work in various exhibitions, and their mutual interest gradually deepened into the desire to one day present a joint exhibition. This long-held idea has finally taken shape in the present show.
In addition to their recent works, the exhibition will feature one collaborative piece created through a process of subtle engagement with each other’s practice. As suggested by the epistolary tone of the title—“Dear …” and “Dear …”—the exhibition unfolds like an exchange of letters through artworks. Gazes intersect, artistic worlds expand and at times sharpen. The result is an experimental and ambitious presentation that reveals dimensions not usually seen in their respective solo exhibitions.

■ Highlights of the Exhibition
Fudezuka’s precise and structurally composed printmaking and Watanabe’s soft, poetic woodblock expressions engage in dialogue, generating new tensions and expanded perspectives through their encounter.
Rather than a simple parallel presentation, the exhibition attempts to create a structure in which the works converse, intersect, and at times interfere with one another. The collaborative piece stands as a symbolic outcome of this exchange.
Like an exchange of letters inspired by the small events of “a bird’s feather” and “the shadow of a cloud,” this exhibition space invites viewers into a subtle yet dynamic dialogue. We warmly invite you to experience this meeting of gazes and sensibilities at the gallery.
We sincerely look forward to welcoming you.
