Asano Katsumi - Brief Biography

1958 Born in Nishinomiya City, Hyogo Prefecture.
1984-1988 Studied etching at Atelier Convex in Nishinomiya City.
1989 Won the Grand Prize at the Poetry and Fairy Tale Illustration Contest. Debuted in the same magazine following the award.
1991 Katsumi Asano Etching Exhibition at Gallery House MAYA (Aoyama) ’93, ’96.<
1992 Katsumi Asano Etching Exhibition at Nanten-en Gallery (Kobe) ’94, ’97, ’99, ’01, ’03, ’06, ’09.
1993 Katsumi Asano Original Art Exhibition at Tokyu Department Store Kichijoji. 1996 Awarded the Miyako Print Award.
1997-2008 Katsumi Asano Etching Exhibition at Tobu Department Store Ikebukuro.
2003 Katsumi Asano Art Exhibition at Gallery Tomo (Ginza) ’05, ’12, ’16, ’23.
2010 Katsumi Asano Exhibition at Art Land Gallery (Marugame).
2013 Katsumi Asano Art Exhibition at Vanilla Gallery (Ginza).
2014 Katsumi Asano Art Exhibition at Art Gallery Paintbox (Kichijoji). From 2015 Apprenticed under Shuji Tateishi, learning oil painting mixed techniques.
2021 Katsumi Asano Exhibition - First solo exhibition featuring oil painting mixed techniques and pencil drawings at Aoki Gallery (Ginza).

Participated in numerous group exhibitions both domestically and internationally. Numerous book cover and illustration works, including the Shincho Bunko Shakespeare Series, and Hiroko Minagawa Work Essence (Hakusensha), among others.
