1945 Born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture
1969 Graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture, Kyoto University; thereafter studied under his father, Kaneshige Sōzan
1979 Became independent
1981 Received the Encouragement Prize at the Tanabe Museum’s “Form of Tea” Exhibition; awarded six times in total
1990 Received the Encouragement Prize at the Tankō Biennale “Chadō Art Exhibition”
1997 Participated in the “Bizen Ware: A Millennium of Traditional Beauty” exhibition, hosted by Sanyo Shimbun
2011 Awarded the Sanyo Shimbun Cultural Achievement Prize
2019 Received the Okayama Prefecture Cultural Award
2023 Recognized by the Agency for Cultural Affairs for Regional Cultural Contributions
