Kageyama　Katsuhiro is a glass artist based in Otaru, Hokkaido. He creates uniquely designed blown glass works as a member of The Glass Studio.

Located at the foot of Mt. Tengu, on the outskirts of the town of Otaru, The Glass Studio is a stylish workshop that blends beautifully with the surrounding landscape. Inside this space, new creations are crafted each day.

The studio traces its origins to 1979, when it was established by renowned glass artist Chiyoji Asahara and six staff members as one of Japan’s early studio glass workshops. As noted on their website, the studio aims to “introduce more people to the world of glass art and allow them to experience the true charm of handcrafted glass.” Their works possess such a natural fit that once used, one finds it hard to part with them. The shape of the glass seems to guide the hand and lips intuitively, tracing its contours without conscious effort—this sense of fit is at the heart of what they call “handcrafted glass.”
