Kuramoto Hidehiko About the Work: "Think while walking with dog"

Man'no Pond is one of the places I often visit while walking my dog. It is famous as one of Japan's largest irrigation ponds, which was reconstructed by the revered monk Kukai, also known as Kobo Daishi.

Upon looking down, I notice flower petals, the names of which I do not know, creating patterns on the ground as they are washed away by the rain. I capture this moment by taking a trimmed photograph. The branches of the trees are entangled and chaotic, but they are never unsettling or unpleasant. As I walk, I ponder the workings of nature and listen to the calls of the evening cicadas. My dog happily wags its tail back and forth.

These moments may seem too ordinary, easily forgotten amid the busyness of everyday life. However, I feel that it is crucial, now more than ever, to hold onto these seemingly trivial aspects of daily life.

Hidehiko Kuramoto

Completed graduate studies at the University of Tsukuba, School of Fine Arts. Since student days, unique methods in the realm of printmaking have garnered attention through participation in events such as the Wakayama Printmaking Biennale, Seibu Printmaking Grand Prize Exhibition, Krakow International Printmaking Triennial, and Budapest International Exhibition. Subsequently, exhibited continuously in the "Mainichi Contemporary Art Exhibition" and participated in various contests like the "Yasui Award Exhibition," "VOCA," "ACRYL AWARD," "FACE," and "ART OLYMPIA." Also contributed to curated exhibitions such as "CROSSPOINT" (Kagawa Prefectural Museum), "Takamatsu City Museum of Art Collection + Light Spilling with Tadao Kimura" (Takamatsu City Museum of Art), "Kunisame and Corpses" (Seto Inland Sea Historical Folk Museum), and "Setouchi Atmosphere: The Perspective of Art" (Kagawa Prefectural Museum). Additionally, involved in multiple collaborations with artists like Semimaru (Sankai Juku), Kazutoki Umezu (sax), Tetsu Iwashita (dance), and Fumi Takahashi (Shibusashirazu Orchestra).
Currently holding a solo exhibition "Babel" at (A Single Art Museum) from September 2 to September 30.
