With many years of experience making butterfly paper cut outs. And having butterflies as her theme, this artist has made a site specific artwork. You can see the scenery and background in the design of the butterfly's wings. The shadow that the butterfly casts is a must see sight.

These butterfly wings are made with such abstract things as my own feelings, the scenery of every season, the local area and classic Japanese patterns in mind. After many years, I have learned a lot about things I want to treasure, things that change, and things that do not. I want to live in the "moment", and be sincere in everything I create.

Hasegawa Takako
Cut-paper Artist Takako Hasegawa completed her postgraduate studies at the Kyoto City University of Arts Graduate School of Fine Arts. She is currently a part-time lecturer at Kagawa University and holds the title of "Geijutsu-shi®" (Certified Art Expert). Inspired by her return to her hometown, she encountered the culture of traditional Japanese paper (washi) that is prevalent in various parts of Shikoku. Captivated by its smooth texture and beauty, she has been creating art pieces using the technique of "kirigami" (cut-paper art) and space installations illuminated by light. She is originally from Shikoku Chuo City and currently resides in Kagawa Prefecture.
