1962　Completed studies at the Kagawa Prefecture Lacquerware Research Institute
1971　Received the Kintetsu Department Store Award at the Kansai Art Exhibition
1980　Received the Kochi Shimbun Award at the Japan New Craft Exhibition
1981　Received the Encouragement Award at the Japan New Craft Exhibition
1988　Exhibited in the Australia Exhibition commemorating the 10th Japan New Craft Exhibition
1990　Received the Yomiuri Shimbun Osaka Headquarters Award at the Japan New Craft Exhibition
　　　　Received Honorable Mention at the “Japan New Crafts for Tomorrow” Exhibition, Hakone Open-Air Museum
1991　Served as a judge for the Japan New Craft Exhibition (also in 1999, 2004, and 2006)

Introduction of Toyozawa　Hideyuki

Hideyuki Toyosawa is an artist active in the field of urushi (Japanese lacquer) art, one of Japan’s traditional crafts. He specializes in Sanuki urushi, a lacquerware tradition of Kagawa Prefecture, and creates works using techniques such as choshitsu (carved lacquer) and kanshitsu (dry lacquer).

His works are known for their elegant decorations featuring gold leaf and gold detailing. They include a wide variety of pieces, such as vases, lacquer panels, and vessels. Inspired by nature, his delicate designs often depict landscapes and flowers. Toyosawa has exhibited at the prestigious Nitten exhibition and serves as a councilor of the Japan New Craft Artists Association. His work continues to receive high acclaim in the world of lacquer art.
