Text by Ozaki Ai

I feel freedom, interest, and possibility in two-dimensional and three-dimensional works and their fusion. I have decided not to limit myself to any particular method of expression, but "ceramics" is a special material that makes me aware of my core. I am aware that my work is a salvation of the self, and I want it to be personal, one-sided, and to the extent that it is only self-satisfying. However, I may be dreaming somewhere of the resonance and possibility of it becoming something for someone else.

Often the reason comes after the decision has been made and acted upon. Of course the reasons for the original decision are present, but sometimes the reasons fall into place later, as if I have found what I am looking for. The thing that contains something that I don't even know where yet can only tell me the answer by continuing.

■ Work / Pink-pink (No.4)
Cherry blossoms fall, and layers of them stain the asphalt. As the flowers turn brown from the rain, decay, and trampling, it is as if they are absorbing the color of the sky as they look up. Cherry blossoms are originally very close to white, but during the cherry blossom season, the world is swamped in a sweltering pink, and my heart is somewhat pink as well. The work of color grains began with an awareness of the daily accumulation of form, like the act of layering colors in a painting. In the past, I used wood as a support on which I developed ceramics, which reminded me of a kind of mosaic painting. This time, I attempted a simpler approach, using only ceramics.

■ Work / Emotion (No.2)
I really don't like the feeling of being still and living in my heart. I feel boiling anger and sadness. I want to forget it, I want to erase it as soon as possible. I imagine making a mess, a lump that I don't know what it is. It is just like minced meat with various parts mixed and ground together, and then put it in a cube so that it fits together like a garbage dumpster.
