Yoshimori Kataoka
Yoshimori Kataoka is a contemporary artist who exhibits her works at solo show in Tokyo, and special exhibitions, art fairs both in Japan and abroad. Her painting medium is mixed media. She uses acrylics, oil pastels, and collage to express her unique world view.

Yoshimori Kataoka solo exhibition“MOTHER TOWN”
I express "question" and "awareness" that I meet in daily life.
At the beginning, I thought and expressed my questions and awareness as something personal feeling. Gradually, I realized that people sympathize to my works, wherever they come from, or whatever they believe. And I thought that is a proof that human beings are all "same". Laugh, cry, envy, anger, dreaming, and thinking about somebody deeply......I'm paying attention to those movements of a human heart, that will never change.
If we could have time to overlook our own existence, and care about each other more humbly, we could bring up a comfortable world for any creatures. Now, I'm making my works with such a hope.
The title of this exhibition,"Mother Town" is my coined word. Unlike "home town" and "motherland", I wanted to express "a town that has grown me" regardless of where I came from or where I lived. I think that self does not originally exist inside me, but is gradually accumulated through various experiences. The towns and people who would have helped create the existence of "I" who lives here now. We have collected works that make you feel that vestige. Through my work, I hope that each person who see it will think about your own "Mother Town".
