■ Why the maintenance has been extended
We had originally planned to be back online after a relatively short period. However, with the long-term future of the site in mind, we decided to take on several substantial improvements in addition to the work we first had in view.
The first is a set of changes to make artworks easier to find — by artist name, for example. We are revising the structure of our pages and their URLs, and working on the site's search engine optimisation as a whole, so that information about our artists and their work can be reached properly through search. Alongside this, we are also improving the Shop, making it easier to search and sort through works.
In the course of this work, we further discovered that our current server environment cannot be updated to the newer PHP environment we require. We have therefore decided to carry out a PHP version upgrade and migrate to a new server environment, together with the improvements to the site itself. Verifying everything afterwards involves a good deal that only becomes clear once the work is underway, which is why we need this additional time.
We hope this maintenance will leave the site easier to search and the Shop easier to use, and that the move to a more stable environment will let us continue to serve you well in the years ahead. We ask for your patience a little longer until we reopen, and thank you for your understanding.
