Yoshinaka Yuya - Text

In recent years, more than ever before, as a painter, I have been able to spend time reflecting on and engaging with not only my own work but also art and painting in general.
Though gradual, I've come to recognize things gained from a busy yet modest life, or perhaps things that were always there, and I now feel as though I've finally arrived at the threshold of being a painter.
While reasons, meanings, and justifications are undoubtedly essential elements in painting, what I currently crave is a change driven by the exact opposite of these elements. Words are important as a means of communication, but being bound by words is significant. People search for words to convince themselves and to understand.
For the first time, I will solidify something that has no basis within me and has only accumulated over time, using oil paint on canvas for this exhibition. What I usually paint is still in a raw, unconnected state. However, these phenomena will eventually go through various changes to form a single shape.
